Elevator etiquette...or lack there of

*just a warning...this is totally a vent post*

Ok so...this morning...just got to my office building and hit the 'up' for the elevator. This lady walks in and stands a couple feet away from me, because obviously she has to go up too. Bell dings, arrow illuminates and doors to the elevator open up. Quick look inside shows no one inside so I get in and move to the left to hit my floor button. Lady walks in behind me, leans across me to hit her floor number and then just stays there...at my shoulder...like there's 10 people in the elevator with us. I mean really?! So I cough hoping she gets nervous and moves away from me but she just stands there. Really?! So I move my bag to my left shoulder, which bumps her, I say excuse me, but she just stands there. Didn't even flinch or give me a dirty look or anything.Your average size, office building elevator. With just me and her in it. Why she stood right next to me is beyond me.
You think maybe she doesn't have a good home life or something and just needed to be close to someone? Maybe her dog died? Whatever the reason...

BACK THE EFF UP! If I can hear you breathe, you're too close. If I can see the precision of your eye makeup, you're too close. If I can smell what you had for breakfast, YOU'RE TOO DAMN CLOSE!

Thank you. Carry on.

a pinning, some rugby, a fight, and some sun

*note: so we all know the evil doings of blogger and my original post was deleted so I am having to re-post*

Oh what a weekend! Well technically its Thursday and the weekend is about to start all over again but that is neither here nor there and damnit I'm still recovering. So here I, am making myself sad, sitting here at work (yes I am blogging from work) rehashing all the details of my FABULOUS weekend, breaking it down...day by day...nitty to the gritty...

Friday:
We drove to San Angelo to attend my brother in law's commissioning to 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. It was such a special occasion! Big Daddy, their younger brother and VonTrapp got to pin him. I had to hold back tears. As an extra incentive to making the drive to San Angelo, VonTrapp said she would KEEP THE KIDS ALL WEEKEND! Did you miss that? ALL WEEKEND. Hell ya baby! So after the ceremony was over, we moved everything into her car and drove back to Austin. Big Daddy's brother's actual college graduation was on Saturday, but we had plans secured for Saturday morning so that's why we left so quickly.
We got back into town right at dinner time. Big Daddy was craving a steak and potatoes, so we went to Salt Grass, ate some steak and enjoyed a drink...sans the dudes. So nice to have to only worry about what I want to drink.

Saturday:
Big Daddy attended an all day rugby coaching class thingy. (LOL) It was to learn how to coach rugby sevens. Whatev. Anyhoo...I was up at 7am with him and LITERALLY stayed in bed until about 10 or so. Then I worked out, nothing crucial. Then ate a little and then got back into the bed and stayed there until about 1. Got up and worked out again and finally decided that it was time to get shit done aka clean something before Big Daddy comes home and asks what the heck I did all day. So I did both bathrooms and the kitchen. Big Daddy came home, showered, and we were out the door to go to our friend's house to watch the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight. I can't go into too many details of the night because then we would be here FOR-EH-VER! so I'll just say heck ya Tyrese! Heck ya Jaime Fox! HELL YA PAC-MAN! That's right...Pac-Man came out on top again. (even though he was pushed down by Mosley and the ref called it a knock down). Lots of yelling and lots of beer....good times!

Sunday:
Doooooooooode...we slept in until about 10am!! Totally taking advantage of the free time. Well that and the fact that we didn't get in until like 3am. We went and had brunch at Whole Foods and walked around the little shopping area. And OH EM GEE look what I found
Yeah baby! How effin hot are these?! They were only $199 too. But Big Daddy wanted to rain on my parade and tell me to wait to get them. Boooooo. Hmph. Yup I pouted and everything and still walked out of Nordstrom Rack empty handed. I promise you WILL see these shoes again, next time on MY feet.
After about an hour of roaming around, we went home and got dressed to go to another friend's house for a birthday BBQ. We spent the rest of the afternoon poolside and thanks to the 90+ degree weather and clear skies, I have a golden bikini tan instead of an all day rugby tank top tan.
We went to pick up the little dudes from VonTrapp's around 7pm and when we came through the door, they pretty much knocked me onto the ground with hugs and kisses and stories of their weekend. I mean after 3 days I swear Juju sounded so much more grown up and we could totally understand everything BamBam was saying. LOL. And if you didn't pick up on that yet...Tank aka Stanky is now BamBam. The 45 min car ride home started off very loud and exciting and ended with 2 snoring monsters. Obviously they had a fab weekend too.

A pinning, some rugby, a fight and some sun. Absolutely fabulous!

Creole cheesecake with a soda pop on the side

{one} what is one food that, as an adult you love, but as a child you said you’d never touch?
I would have to say all vegetables.

{two} did you go to college? if yes, what was your major?
Yes I went to college. I wanted to be a doctor so I jumped in and majored in pre-med. Then I decided I wanted to be a sports doctor so I changed it to kinesiology and added a minor in business. Going to school full time and being a single parent to 2 boys I realized that I did not want to spend all that time in medical school away from them. So I finally changed my major for the last time to Marketing. Whew!

{three} what’s the most wild animal you’ve seen in real life (not counting the zoo)?
An alligator. Several actually. Life in Louisiana :)

{four} have you ever been to a fortune teller?
No I've never been. I've always wanted to go though. Hmmm maybe I will for my birthday.
{five} can you juggle?
Heck ya! I'm the BESTEST handkerchief juggler EVER ;)

{six} hardwood floors or carpet?
Definitely hardwood floors.

{seven} is it called “soda” or “pop”?
I've always called it soda but have recently been calling it soda pop.

{eight} what was your first car?
1995 lilac Dodge Neon

{nine} what is the most decadent dessert you’ve ever eaten?
Home made Creole cheesecake from Copeland's in Shreveport, Louisiana!!!!

{ten} how often do you rearrange your furniture?
I'd have to say every 6 months.

Well hello there April!

Whew! What a month March was for me. Nothing "stressful." Just pretty hectic. Being sick pretty much all of February kind of set ME back this past month. And now here it is...April 1st.
So just a quick (very quick) rundown of March:

THE MOST FUN thing I did was going to the PBS Kids brunch during SXSWi.
**Let me warn you now, that this is where I get giddy like a school girl going to a New Kids on the Block concert**
I was so excited when I was extended an invitation last year, but then to receive that email from Caitlin again? Total Awesome-sauce! And this year...I met sooooo many bloggers. Many from right here in Austin too! Let's see...There was Shannan of Riemerville, who I actually met at last years brunch. Ummm ooh ooh Christina of A Closet Writer, who I first connected with through twitter! (God who doesn't LOVE twitter?!) And I got to meet Gigi from Kludgy Mom. AND OMG did you know she writes for like everybody?! You may recognize her from Sheposts or Business2Blogger. I also met Lisa of Soak It All In. Who by the way takes AMAZING pictures.
I totally got to schmooze (yes that is totally a word because there was no red squiggly line under it) with "famous" (famous to me and probably some of you too) bloggers like Rachael of Today's Mama. OMG I was SOOOO excited about talking with her for as long as I did. She is super funny and totally fantastic! I would love to be her kid for a day. You wanna know something crazy? Live Mom lives here in Austin. (Well I think its actually Pflugerville, but whatev). Yes Catherine lives right in my city! LOL. 3 words: Mom It Forward! Yes that's right! I even met Jyl from Mom It Forward! *SQUEAL* I shook her hand and everything. Laughed at jokes, talked about her room situation during the conference (which was a funny story). Ahhh...meeting her I felt like I had made it lol. Standing there with her, Rachael, and my fellow Austinites...wow. Good stuff I tell ya.
I made some awesome connections! And learned more about PBS kids programming as well. Sarah DeWitt (VP of PBS kids interactive) even sat at our table! What made this experience amazing was not just the bloggers, but everyone who works for PBS kids. Linda Simensky, the VP of PBS kids programming, spoke on how she became "inspired" and how she is working on finding ways to bridge learning with technology. "Every new technology, is every new opportunity" for kids to learn. Goosebumps.

March was also filled with rugby. Big Daddy just seems to be getting better and better. His first year ever playing rugby and he is ranked #2 for tries (touchdowns) scored in the Texas Rugby Union, D3 division. He's enjoyed playing so much that he has decided that he wants to coach rugby too.

My new job has been great. Finally in a groove so you'll be seeing more and more of me here. I don't have a laptop right now, so hopefully I'll get one for my birthday...which by the way in on April 27. You know...just in case you wanted to send me a cupcake or something.

So bring on April. I am ready! Y'all ready for me?! :)
