Friday Fit Club - Portion Control with Lee Muse

*Hello ladies and germs! Today I bring to you, the future MIL of my 2 dudes, Lee Muse, the other co-founder of our amazing club*

I am always gonna be a fat girl at heart! I love food and I will not be surprised if I did quit working out and gain back some weight again! That's life and its just gonna happen. But for now, I'm gonna try to control the urges and temptation that is all around me.  If you look at the picture below...

This is my Dinnerware made by Corelle. The Comcast remote is there to shows you the size comparison. I used to be a fatty that used the actual dinner plate. And girl, you must believe that I used the FULL advantage of the size of this plate! Not only used the whole perimeter but to see how much food I could pile onto it.  Now that I'm watching my diet, I use the "salad" plate. Wah. But it does make a HUGE difference. I also use the FIST Measurement.

Other than Vegetables, I can not eat meat or anything else that is more than the size of my fist. (I would like to brag a little bit here. I am happy to let you know that this is the only time I'm very happy with my "Man Hand's". I probably have bigger hands than an average girl with my height and built. HAHA.) Anyways...check out my IG ACCOUNT to see what kind of food I eat. Or you can use this portion Control method...

I definitely utilized my portion control all last week because I didn't work out as much as I should of. Just remember that losing weight is 80% Diet and 20% Exercise. I firmly believe in that.  I hope you guys learned a thing or two, or if you have heard these Ideas before. I totally recommend you apply these methods to your life. Especially on the days you dont want to work out. Have a great weekend guys, and its okay to indulge in moderation. If you feel like a candy bar. Eat it. Instead of the whole thing, cut in half and save the rest for the next day.
xoxo, K. Lee

Friday Fit Club - Getting Started with Duckie

*Ladies and germs, I present to you, in all her marvelous glory, Duckie! One of our fabulous fit club team co-founders.*

So last week, my homegirl Nicole wrote a post about the Nike+ Training Club app and the program she was starting.  I had previously downloaded the app in hopes of getting myself into shape but hadn't done anything more than just browse through the workouts.  Yeah, I'm totally the person who will watch fitness videos just to see how much I don't want to do them.

Anyway, after finally signing up for the "Get Lean" program - beginner's level (obviously) - I got off my ass and started Day 1 of the program.  The "Get Lean" program consists of "high intensity body-weight workouts" and I also added running to my program to push myself more and get the most out of the program.  I obviously had no idea what I was getting myself into.

After not working out for AGES, that 30-minute workout killed.  Jogging, burpees, squat jumps, pushups, kick downs, hip lifts, lateral hops...  And though I didn't actually die, I did puke my brains out twice during the workout.  I guess it didn't help that I was eating while I was putting the program together.  And it probably did more harm than good that I took a few sips of vodka right before since I was planning on just sitting my ass down with a drink and reading all night.  That's just one of the down sides to acting on my spontaneous urges.

The up side is that I finally did it!  My body hates me right now, but I felt more energized this morning and I'm excited to continue this program.  Okay, wait - that's not entirely true.  Since I added running to my program (like a dumbass), Day 2 of my program is to run.  Three.  Frikken.  Miles.  Are they frikken crazy or something?  I swear I thought this shit was the beginner's level!?  I can't even run one mile and they want me to run three?  Ho.  Lee.  Crap!

Since I KNOW I won't last three miles tonight, I'm just going to try my best and run as long as I can.  And since I don't have a treadmill, I'll be running around the neighborhood with a stick just in case any stray dogs want to step up.  And Guam has a LOT of stray dogs - big ones.

And now that I think of it, a treadmill is a great gift for someone to give me for Valentine's Day.  Right, honey?  Just kidding.  But not really.

So now that I've finally gotten off my ass (which is now hella sore from all the squats and hip lifts), tell me:  What gets you motivated to work out?  Do you just act on your spontaneous urges and just do it?  Or does it take a little more hyping up and a set schedule to get you moving and keep you going?

Comment below with any motivational tips - it would really help me to overcome this 3-mile hurdle that I have to jump tonight.  And again, Ho.  Lee.  Crap!

Me...in all my puffy glory :-)

Here I am Day 1 of 30.

I know you must be wondering what in the world I am talking about. Well...I've been feeling, and looking 'puffy' these last few weeks. I really don't know how else to describe it. I blame it on the stress of me starting school again (oooh more on that in another post). Well my island sister from another mister Kalei (you can find her on YouTube: alohaimlei) posted a selfie on IG talking about day 1 and she feels great and she can already feel differences. So of course I asked her to spill the dang beans. And being the bestest ever, she told me she started a 30 day program and pointed me in the direction of the Nike Training Center app. Say WHAT?!?! I have that app!
*note: if you've ever followed my separate fitness blog, I've totally posted about the app and workouts on there*
But wait...30 day program? I don't remember there being a 30 day program that you can actually follow. I thought it was just 15-30 min different workouts. Well of course I opened the app and guess what...she was right. Best thing is that YOU create your program. Do you wanna lean out, tone, get stronger...it's all up to you. So I created my plan (to tone and be lean) and well, there you have it...

Day 1.

Friday Fit Club - Inspiration

When I made the decision to kick my own fitness arse ;-) I looked online (bodybuilding.com, IG, pinterest, blog/vlogs) for some fitness inspiration. Who did I see and/or read about that made me want to get out from behind my desk and get to the gym. Who, that when I looked at their picture and read their story, would I feel some sort of connection to and make me BELIEVE I could conquer and rule my fitness.

I wanted to know who my 2 co-partners in crime called their inspiration. So I asked. And I received...

Keena aka Lee Muse answered: "Instagram there's this girl : mankofit"
So off to IG I went...and this is who I found...

DAMN! Yup...I instantly re-thought eating the king size snickers someone had just offered me LOL.

Duckie replied: "I think my fitness inspiration would have to be anyone who looks great after having kids!  I'm sure you both (Keena and I) know how hard it is to get rid of that baby pouch after giving birth.  Queen Bey, Gwen Stefani, Kendra Wilkinson...all boss women who can juggle marriage, work, kids, AND still manage to keep themselves HEALTHY not skinny"
Heck ya! Bey is amazeballs! Gwen, amazeballs! Kendra...my fave girl next door...GO KENDRA...amazeballs! I mean who doesn't want to achieve everything these women have: healthy balance.

So who do I consider my fitness inspiration? Here...I'll show you my fave...

Jamie Eason...WOW! I've known of her for such a long time (mostly from my fave fitness magazines). She is recently married and just had a baby last year. And she is going through what all new moms go through...getting that pre-baby body back. I totally want her arms! Oh and if you're looking for a new workout program, DEFINITELY check out her Live Fit Trainer on bodybuilding.com...you're welcome.

Oh and then there are these 2...what makes me love these two is that they're wee littles like me...well not as wee as me ;-)

Mimi Kong! I swear we have the same bodies! Well not now...but in her before. Like not fat, but not skinny either. Like puffy...just from not being healthy.

Katie Chung Hua! Her overall physique is bananas! And can you believe she is a hockey player?! Yup.

Sometimes people who are closest to us don't share the same (fitness) passion with us. So do we give up? HECK NO! We go out and find our people. Inspiration is everywhere. Dude, get on IG. You're sure to find someone there. Or better yet, get on pinterest. LOTS of fitness inspiration there. I'm not the quote motivated type...i'm the I wanna see motivation type.

So, who inspires you?

Don't just strive to be a great leader, strive to be someone's inspiration -NJ

Cheers to the NEW YEAR!

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!!

Looks delicious right?! It was! It was a pineapple cake. I didn't make it LOL. We rang in the new year with some really good friends of ours (who made the cake). We went and watched the fireworks at Auditorium shores with them at 10pm and spent the rest of the night with them. It was awesome and oh so much fun! Oh and then there was dancing...zumba actually...LOL I still giggle just thinking about it.

New year = a new set of "goals."

Remember Fitness Friday? Well this time around, Duckie and I and our other BBFF Keena, have decided to give it a little something extra to get more people involved and to help keep everyone motivated throughout the year. Enter in:

Oh ya that's right! It's going down...surryous business going on here ;-) A year long fitness "challenge" for anyone and everyone. Our very own club to help motivate and inspire each other on the road to a fit and healthier lifestyle.
It'll follow the same format as Fitness Fridays with tips and tricks and updates on our own workouts. I will also be including some great interviews with other fitness enthusiasts as well as bloggers/vloggers, nutritionists and personal trainers.

You want in? Of course you do!
Here's how it works...

~ YOU set your goals. What are your fitness goals this year? I know you made your resolutions...keep yourself accountable and WRITE THEM DOWN. Now look at those goals...break them down into doable increments-->month by month.

~ You're all planned out and those goals are staring back at you...what now? Well starting this Friday, and every friday from now on, post a current picture of yourself. (Starting next month, only on the 1st friday, along with the current picture you will also post your previous month's picture, dated, side by side). Include with your picture your goal for that month and a mini goal for the upcoming week.

Example of 1st friday of the month post...
Left: 1/3/14 Right: 2/7/14
*this is not my picture, can be found here*

Goal for the month: build more muscle
Goal for the week: 3 days of 20 pushups and 50 squats + commit 1 hour to yoga

Remember to post a new pic every friday with your month goal and week goal. Hold yourself accountable! We want to keep you motivated, and we can't do that if you are not motivated yourself. This does NOT have to be a long blog post whatsoever. You don't even need to blog! You can link up your Instagram pic, tweet, or Facebook status. Use the hashtag #4FRIDAYFITCLUB so we can find you! Come across an awesome quote that you want to share, use the hashtag so everyone in our club can see it too. I for one LOVE progress pics! Tag me on IG or twitter and I'll make sure to send you some love!

~ We give credit where credit is due. Your dedication will not go unnoticed so make sure you are linking up every week. At the end of every month, the 3 of us will get together and select one Fit Fox for the month. This person will receive a sweet little prize and be entered to win our end of the year Friday Fit Club prize pack! WHAT?! PRIZES?! Oh ya! I told you this was serious business. In order to qualify for Fit Fox of the month, you must have posted each week of that month.

And that ladies and gents, is it. Simple, free, and fun! And don't forget the goodies!
So what are you waiting for? Take that awesome selfie and let's get this party started!! Don't forget to grab out butts too! Heehee you know what I mean...
