Weekend recap: Rugby, Aussie Day, Football

What a weekend! I say that all the time don't I? LOL! Our weekend started early Friday night with some rival high school rugby. It's cool because the coaches for each of the 2 teams actually play rugby with Big Daddy for the Austin Blacks. It was hard to cheer for just one team LOL. Though we did cheer for the son of one of the coaches. He's only a freshman, playing on the varsity team. This kid has even played in tournaments with Big Daddy. It was fun! I miss Friday night high school games. The crowd was pumped! Granted it's not like a high school football game, but don't worry...it will be. Rugby is coming up! I also got to see the wife of one of the coaches that night. The last time I seen her was last July when we were in Corpus Christi.

When she saw me, she immediately hugged me and said "Girl! You are half your size!" At first I was a little taken aback but quickly recovered ;-). I was rounder the last time I saw her...I know I was. It just made me feel so good that now other people can see a difference.
Saturday was Aussie day at the rugby pitch. We had music set up, sold merchandise, and even sold some authentic Aussie meat pies. The day started with Division I college rugby (St. Edward's University vs University of Texas) under cloudy skies. I had sandals on and my feet were freezing! But the sun did end up coming out right before our first game.

Look at my handsome guy! Look at them legs! LOL Funny story...he was running back and forth across the field and I kept thinking to myself, something looks different about him. Then I realized, he wasn't wearing tights. THAT's when I heard the guys from the college game "teasing" him (our coach also coaches St. Ed's so we know all those guys). After the game, which they crushed 67-5, he confirmed what I knew...he forgot to pack his tights so he had to play in his underwear. LOL. Our first side (D1) played right after and also won 31-25. The Austin Blacks are now the only undefeated team in Texas.
Can you spot Big Daddy? And no, he is NOT the one laying on the ground LOL

If you follow me on instagram (@nicolemariejohnson) then you already saw this picture :-) Seriously...look at all that hair on these boys!

There was even a mouse race after.

And some friendly arm wrestling (this was actually a rematch)

We are the Blacks' Belles :-) We made sweet treats for all four teams too.

(I realized that anytime we take a family picture, we're all in the same exact spot)

Sunday was another day of flag football for my sweet Juju. He is really loving it! He says he wants to play tackle when he's in 2nd grade...hmmm...I'm not sure yet lol. He had a great practice. They ran a bunch of different drills and got to run a bunch too.

His team lining up to scrimmage against another team.

So proud! He got his team's first good sportsmanship medal :-)

Mommy's little barbarians.

Another full weekend for us. Oh and don't you worry...like I mentioned before, sweet little BamBam will be in soccer this spring. I love being a boy mom! How was your weekend? Anything fun?

We are officially "in season"

Boy oh boy...what a weekend! The first of many sports filled weekends for the locker room. Saturday kicked off the new rugby season for Big Daddy. We drove to Rice University for the first rugby match against HARC (Houston Area Rugby Club).

*Big Daddy is #14...yum!*

It was supposed to be 50 degrees...but it was like 40s...with wind...and rain. We held strong...we kept it together. Well the dudes were fine, I was shivering my tiny bum off! LOL.
Here are a couple of shots at the beginning of the match. You see, I have every intention of taking great pics, but I get so involved in the game that, well...screw the pictures! And when I mean I get so involved, I mean I pace the field just like the rest of the team. And I holler. LOUD. And I curse. And you get the picture. I get very emotionally involved.

that's my guy right there...I thought I had zoomed in but meh whatev

There was also a "major" injury. (Now I say major, but everyone, including myself, were not too phased by it.) I took pictures, but I don't think I'll post them here LOL. They are pretty gruesome. A guy on our team got elbowed super hard in the head and literally knocked out for about 10 seconds. When he got up, his ear was messed up...BAD. He left the game and we were told later that he had to get 10 stitches and his ear drained. Yeah.

our cold family right after the game. Oh and we won 26-22 :-)

and another...we were photobombed LOL. That's Pierce back there without his shirt...he's single ;-)

The drive back to Austin SUCKED!!! Like SUCKED! It was raining and the wind was blowing, and there was fog, and I was tired...and yes I had to drive back. I mean dude just played 80 minutes of rugby, I couldn't make him drive...even though he did say he could.

Sunday morning we all slept in, well except for Big Daddy. He had to go to 7s training at 10am. (He was selected for a 7s team that would be competing in Las Vegas in February.) After he got home, it was time for a quick lunch and then off to Juju's first football practice of the season.

tossing the ball around before meeting his coach for the season

huddled up with coach Jimmy. He got #14 for his jersey...that's also Big Daddy's number in rugby

he got to play center LOL

Oh what a weekend! And it's only week 1! We have at least 12 more weeks. BamBam doesn't start soccer until the spring (March I believe), but once he does, we will be completely booked. A rugby player, a football player and a soccer player. I have affectionately been dubbed the cheerleader. Pretty fitting if I do say so myself.

Fitness Friday 4 - Family Fitness

I've missed a couple of these due to LIFE and had to go back and actually count how many I have done. So let's do this then shall we...

Working out for me and my family is down right fun...like seriously! Big Daddy and I try to work out at least 4 times a week, leaving the weekends as our "active rest days" which includes fun active stuff with the little dudes. For the dudes, working out is just part of life...not anything scheduled. They see me and the hubs doing it and they want to do it too. Awesome right?!

warning: here comes the mommy bragging moment...

So awesome that they even come up with their own workouts...

The beep you here in the beginning is their tabata timer. YES, my dudes do tabata too. Now before anyone goes off on a rant about pushing your kids and making them do crazy stuff, let me (pre) interject and say my guys ASK to work out. And this little part of their workout that they did, like I mentioned, they came up with on their own. (They super love video games, hence the title "new level") The one in the blue and white shorts is Juju, my 6 year old, and in the green and white is BamBam and he's 4. They workout about 3-4 times a week either at the playground in our complex or they walk to the elementary school to run sprints. :-) I am one proud proud mommy.

Fitness for anyone, young or older, should just be a part of life. Make it fun by doing something fun and including your whole family. It doesn't have to always be lifting weights in a gym or completing some DVD or online exercise program. Go for a walk, go hiking. Heck its summer time, go swimming! Just keep active and trust me, you, your family, you'll all be happier and healthier and fitter. And you're doing it together.

This week I started a new workout regime.

The hardest part was starting back up after almost 2 weeks off .

My greatest accomplishment this week was not eating the greasy pizza my office ordered for lunch on Tuesday.

Okay, I felt guilty because instead of having a black coffee like I should, I added some salted caramel hot cocoa mix to it. Not once this week, but twice.

Next week I'm gonna try replacing one meal a day (meat, veggies, starch) with a vegan option. (More on this in a future Fitness Friday post).

I hope everyone has had a great week! I would love to see y'all link up as well. How are you keeping fit? Do you involve your family too? What fun family activities do y'all do?
If you don't want to do a post, just answer the 5 questions. Easy peasy. So go ahead and do your post, head on over to Frikken Duckie, to link up, and come back here and let me know! I wanna see what y'all are up to. :-)

Throwback Thursday: Mommy's sweet Jack Jack

I can't believe this chunky monkey will be turning 6 in a couple weeks! My sweet "Jack Jack." You know Jack Jack...from The Incredibles?! Juju was about 3 months in this picture. *Le sigh*

Sunday Funday at Barton Springs

These were taken this past Sunday.

*our view from the lawn*

*people watching*

*Big Daddy & Lil Mama*

And no day is ever complete without FUN...

We are totally sun babies. Our plans every weekend consist of being outside. Most times we just chill in front of the house. That's all gonna change when we move into out apartment this summer. POOL TIME!

Bring the noise...PLEASE?!

The locker room is eerily quiet this evening. Big daddy is of course at work. Both Juju and Stanky are not feeling very well. For once, dinner time was pleasantly uneventful. No screaming at each other saying the other one needs to eat their food or no dessert. No trading food across the table. No screaming for juice when they saw the bottoms of their cups. Not once did I have to pick up a fallen spoon or fork. No noise. No mess either. They LOOK sickie: watery eyes, runny nose, and the occasional cough that sounds like I gave birth to seals, not little boys. Doesn't a mom, who works all day, want nothing more than to come home to quiet? Well of course thats what I want...at least not at the expense of my guys. Oh what I wouldn't give to hear a laugh or giggle. Hell, I'll take yelling at this point. I know in a couple of days I'll regret saying that but its just not the same when there's no noise. Not even a little.
We're driving to Austin tomorrow afternoon (where's all my TEXANS?! WOOT WOOT!). I have an interview Friday morning. Its just me and the boys. Big daddy can't get the time off. My MIL lives right outside of Austin in Copperas Cove, so that where we'll be staying. She's gonna be watching them while I'm at my interview. A couple months ago I posted about a position in San Antonio with the company that I currently work for...that did not work out. But I know this one definitely will! I feel it. This is the job for me! So again I'm asking everyone to cross fingers and toes. And definitely cross them for an uneventful road trip with my 2 sickies.

Car talk...

On the way to daycare this morning, Juju and I had a very interesting conversation:

JUJU: Mommy, what dat mommy?

ME: (Luckily we were at a stop light so I could turn to see what he was referring to)
Thats a cemetary.

JUJU: What dat "cemterrry"?

ME: (Seriously?! Totally at a loss for words...)
When you die, thats where they put you. (I had no idea what to say can you tell?)

JUJU: Oh die.

ME: Do you know what that means? Die?

JUJU: The car and then hit my face, and then hit my leg, and then my face.

ME: Like if you get into a car accident...

(then I'm interrpted)

JUJU: And you DIE (said really loud and low) mommy.

ME: Its like this...when you get old, you eventually will die because (pause-then interrupted again)

JUJU: Cuz you no wake up. Cuz you hit yours face.

ME: Ok.

JUJU: Mommy...like the movie they crash and he hit his face and he DIE (said loud and low again) Daddy movie the man hit his face then he DIE (again said loud and low lol)

Soooo...no more movie time with daddy. Well at least there's some kind of a basic concept there, right? I've asked big daddy what movie Juju was referring to, and all he could come up with is Transformers. Who knows.

Goodnight Juju...

Me: Goodnight juju, I love you.

Juju: (silence-eyes directed @ The Lion King on tv)

(Yes I let my son fall asleep while watching tv-not like its an everyday thing-besides, its on a sleep timer for 20 min--shoot me)

Moving on...

Me: Bubba-goodnight.

Juju: I still watch Lion King mama.

Me: I know, just want to say goodnight & I love you.

Juju: Mama-get out the way. I can't see. Ugghh mama no love. Move please.

Me: Ok (and I give him a kiss on his forward)

I get up to walk out of the room, & turn around to look at him just in time to see him wipe my kiss of his forehead. LOL. Jerk. LOL. I think he's been hanging around big daddy too much.

2 minutes later...

Juju: (yellin) Mama I love you!

Then, silence...

I walk to his room and peek in the door. He's turned the dvd player & tv off & is layin facing the wall. My sweet boy. I turn to leave &...

Juju: Goodnight juju.

Me: Goodnight juju.

Juju: (in his excited voice) Ya that's right. Love you.

Um ok. LOL. Strange I know.

JUJU: I don't know. (still sobbing) It hurt.
ME: You'll be alright its not broken.
JUJU: Uh-huh. Its broke.
ME: How do you know that? Let me see.
JUJU: No don't touch it. It hurt. It broken.
ME: Well if I can't look at it, I can't see whats wrong with it.
JUJU: Mama just stop talking and kiss to not broken it.

Conversations with a 2 yr. old (my 2 yr. old)

So I'm driving juju and tank to daycare. We stop at a red light and this is what we see:

JUJU: Momma big truck!
ME: I see. Its a semi-truck.
JUJU: No momma. Issa bee-ah (beer) truck.
ME: How do you know its a beer truck.
JUJU: Momma iss daddy bee-ah truck. Dats daddy bee-ah. He got daddy bee-ah.
ME: Yes baby, that is the beer that daddy drinks.
JUJU: Yes. Iss daddy bee-ah truck. Ina bottle, member?
ME: You're right what was I thinking?
JUJU: Not a semi truck, a bee-ah truck. Daddy bee-ah truck.

*You think my husband drinks too much beer?!

So we keep driving and we get stopped at a light near a grocery store. And we see this:

(not the actual truck we saw, obviously)

JUJU: Ooh momma daddy bee-ah truck.
ME: I thought the other truck, was daddy's beer truck.
JUJU: Das daddy bee-ah truck too. Daddy like bee-ah. Daddy drink bee-ah.
Me: Oh I know now.
JUJU: Not juju. Juju drink milk.
ME: Good.
JUJU: Why good?
ME: Milk makes juju grow into a big boy. And then a man like daddy.
JUJU: Oh. Then juju drink bee-ah like daddy?
ME: How about you just drink milk for the rest of your life?
JUJU: Oh no. Issa resess.
ME: A what?
JUJU: Momma das too espensive.
ME: Were you trying to say its a recession?
JUJU: Ya dat.
ME: Ok. No more tv for you.
JUJU: Daddy say it. Daddy say milk spensive.
ME: Well, next time tell daddy if he doesn't buy any more beer, then we'll have more money for milk.
JUJU: Ok. But daddy like bee-ah.
ME: I know.
JUJU: Too bad daddy. I a big boy!

The things that come out of juju's mouth amazes me. I can't wait to see what age 3 brings.

M.I.A. (as usual, but not for long)

So I've been a TERRIBLE blogger these days.

So let's see...WORK! My schedule has been so crazy! One week I work 4pm to 1am and the next I go back to day shift, 7:30am to 4:30pm. I mean come on. Boy oh boy I cannot wait until the day that I can say goodbye. I love my job, but I love my days off even more! LOL! I absolutely HATE having to bring juju and tank to daycare 5 days a week. I HATE not being home when skinny and milkshake get home from school to help them with their homework. But all that will change. Big daddy is getting on at the fire department so Iwon't have to work full time anymore. I mean I certainly can if I want to, but I think i'm gonna take a break and be home with my babies. Maybe work part time again.
So...i'm having this ongoing thing with my ex (skinny and milkshakes biological "idiot"). He was trying to get full custody on the grounds that I had married. Um for starters, they will be 13 and 11, where the hell were you before now? And I've been married for almost 5 years. Oh come on dude! Anyways, the judge is gonna give us joint custody and then we have to work out the details. So the biggest issue is the fact that he DOES NOT pay child support and that I'm supposed to drive half the distance between our locations to drop them off to him...thats fricken Childress, TX!  Thats 7 hours away from where we live. He lives in Colorado Spings. I did not tell him to move to Colorado...he chose to do that on his own. I mean why the hell should I have to drive all that way?! And driving is EXPENSIVE...gas, food...I mean seriously. And then I have to make the drive with a 2 1/2 year old and a one year old...ALONE. I'll keep y'all posted. I dropped them off on good friday and am supposed to pick them up on the 19th, and am scheduling a meeting with my lawyer hopefully this wednesday.
So onto more exciting news...not sure if you caught it above in my ranting...TANK IS 1YEARS OLD!!!!!!! The milestone date was friday, April 10. It was indeed a GOOD friday. Didn't get to do anything because we were driving the entire day! (AAARRRGGGHHHH) But I'm still getting him a cake either today or tomorrow. Or maybe I should just wait until skinny and milkshake come back. We'll see.
I know I'm not here half as much as I want to be but you can ALWAYS tweet with me http://twitter.com/nicole_johnson (yes that was my blatant form of self marketing!)
Oh BTW...we got a new game table! It has a pool table, air hockey table, table tennis, finger football, bowling...its GREAT! What I don't like is the fact we really didn't have the room for it in our house, so it has now replaced our dining room table until big daddy finishes his back room. I will be posting pictures on my other blog High Heels & Athletic Shoes so check back in about 2 hours!

Look-->A REAL POST

So sue me for being a slacker these past couple weeks or so. Anyways...so whats the occassion for this special "real" post you ask? Nothing really. I'm having a pretty relaxing morning so far, not even a tired bug in sight! So how about a quick update? NO? Well too bad....
Next week I go back to a normal schedule (8:00-5:00). If you work or know someone that works in a call center, then this could be both a good and bad thing. I've been meaning to post about my job...so...i'll just leave it at that, and you can look forward to a post later.
Had the day off yesterday to catch up with cleaning and me time. Did some laundry, cleaned my bathroom, organized the little ones' bedroom, got my nails done, and even did a little window shopping. Big daddy even ordered me a mini laptop yesterday! YAY!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll actually receive it in 3-5 days like they say. So now all I need is a new cel phone!
Speaking of big daddy, we're getting him a new, used car tomorrow. He's really excited! He has a 1993 red jimmy, but the steering column broke so now it just sits in our driveway...at a very awkward angle if you ask me. See?

So where was I? Oh ya (had to scroll up lol)...so he's getting a new car. Well SUV. Its an older Isuzu Amigo, manual. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow when we go and pick it up.
I've ben thinking about getting back to my creative side, so to start, I'm making an alphabet book for juju. It's still in its bare stage...got almost everything I need, just need to print out a bunch of pictures for it. I plan on getting this completed by next sunday. So look for my post on it then.
I started my supplements yesterday! Woohoo! Just the kick I've been needing! Big daddy are doing it together. I forgot to take my before picture yesterday...oh well...I guess in 90 days you'll just get to see the after picture.
So long for now. I'm off to Walmart to print some pictures, then off to maybe Hobby Lobby for more cardstock. Oh and then, heading over to Target to check out Peek. Whats Peek you ask? Well if you don't know you can cheat and google it, but if you can wait...I'll hopefully show you later. And then later I'm picking up juju's new bed! First off to shower. Still kinda stinky from my workout this morning!

Flashback Friday: A walk down memory (picture) lane

Well its the last friday of the month...LOVE. I wanted to go out with a bang! Haha...whatever! LMAO! Naw but seriously...I wanted a GREAT PICTURE.

So this is Juju and his "best bud" booga man. Booga man was born a month before juju. This picture was taken 8 days after juju was born. I can't believe how little they both were. Well how little juju was.

Here they are when juju was 2 months old. Haha..I just realized he was wearing the same outfit in their first picture together. Can you tell he liked to eat?!

This was taken the day after booga man's first birthday. Look at my juju's curly hair. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Oh how I miss those curls!

This was taken March of last year...goof ball!

And now here they are (Jan 2009). Too busy now to even have just one of them looking at the camera.
My how time flies! In the blink of an eye, they go from these whinny little things, to these little people.
So come play along and take a trip down memory lane. Join Melinda every friday at Bloggin' it from the Burbs.
